Honda recalling the Pilot
Honda Motor Co. is recalling nearly 347,000 examples of its Pilot crossovers worldwide for a potential issue with the front seatbelts. Honda says the recall is for 2009-2011 model year Pilot models built in Alabama, is "due to a manufacturing error on a small number of front seat belts, where the stitching connecting the lap section of the belt to the outboard anchor webbing may be incomplete or missing." The affected seatbelts could disconnect from the anchor webbing in an accident, increasing the risk of an injury.Honda will contact Pilot owners in early October and will inspect the stitching on front seatbelts of the recalled vehicles. Assemblies will be replaced free of charge if Honda deems them to be defective. Honda says almost 311,000 of the recalled Pilot models are registered in the U.S., 10,000 in Canada, 8,000 in Mexico and the rest in other countries. Fortunately, Honda says no injuries or deaths have been reported related to this issue.

2001-2005 BMW 3 Series recall
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced that BMW is recalling 241,000 3 Series models for faulty rear tail lamps. According to NHTSA, certain 2002-2005 325i, 325xi, 330i and 330xi models built between September 1, 2001 and March 1 2005 may experience increased resistance at the electrical contacts. This resistance may eventually lead to the failure of tail light, brake light or turning indicator lamps over time. That failure could impede a driver's ability to warn other motorists of his or her intentions, potentially leading to an accident.Previously, BMW issued a technical service bulletin concerning a certain eight-pin connector which would overheat and melt under extreme electrical load. BMW dealers corrected the issue by adding additional grounding to the circuit. It's unclear whether this remedy will also be applied to the recall. BMW dealers will repair the electrical components free of charge once the recall gets underway in October of this year.

Subaru Trezia
The Subaru Trezia hatchback (a Toyota-Subaru collaboration) is a roomy five-door, which closely mirrors the Honda Fit in most every measurement, will be a near spot-on match of the Toyota Verso it's based on, but with an Impreza-style grille slapped on the front clip. Both the Toyota Verso and Subaru Trezia are being sold in Japan now, and both vehicles are destined for Euro showrooms this spring. The Japan Trezia is powered by a choice of a 1.3-liter or a 1.5-liter inline-four cylinder gasoline engine, with an all-wheel-drive option which will likely be the turbodiesel 1.4-liter. But in Europe the 1.5 will be replaced with a 1.4-liter diesel.

NEVER FORGET
The World Trade Center was a complex of seven buildings featuring the landmark twin towers each 110 stories tall, stood over 1,350 feet. Located in Lower Manhattan, New York City. The complex opened on April 4, 1973, and was destroyed by Terrorist during the September 11 attacks 2001. At the time of their completion, the twin towers were the tallest buildings in the world, surpassing the Empire State Building, also in Manhattan. The twin 110-story towers used a tube-frame structural design. To gain approval for the project, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey agreed to take over the Hudson & Manhattan Railroad, which became the Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH). Groundbreaking for the World Trade Center took place on August 5, 1966. The North Tower (1) was completed in December 1972 and the South Tower (2) was finished in July 1973. The cost for the construction was $400 million. The complex was located in the heart of New York City's downtown financial district and contained 13.4 million square feet. The Windows on the World restaurant was located on the 106th and 107th floors of 1 World Trade Center (the North Tower) while the Top of the World observation deck was located on the 107th floor of 2 World Trade Center (the South Tower). The World Trade Center experienced a fire on February 13, 1975, and a Terrorist bombing on February 26, 1993.
On the morning of September 11, 2001, Al-Qaeda-affiliated hijackers flew two 767 jets into the complex, one into each tower, in a coordinated terrorist attack. After burning for 56 minutes, the South Tower (2) collapsed, followed a half-hour later by the North Tower (1), with the attacks on the World Trade Center resulting in 2,753 deaths. 7 World Trade Center collapsed later in the day and the other buildings, although they did not collapse, had to be demolished because they were damaged beyond repair. The process of cleanup and recovery at the World Trade Center site took eight months.

Ferrari FF
The Ferrari FF which stands for Ferrari Four made its debut at the Geneva Auto Show. The FF features Ferrari’s first all-wheel-drive system, a unique design which is said to weigh 50 percent less than conventional systems, although Ferrari has yet to release detailed specifications. The website for the FF features video of it being tested in snowy conditions in locations ranging from the southernmost tip of Argentina to the French Alps, indicating that it is also the company’s first true four-season car.
Even so, with a front-mounted 651 hp 6.3-liter V12, Ferrari claims a top speed of 208 miles per hour for the FF, which can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds. A host of traction and stability control systems developed in Formula One racing will be standard equipment.
The four-seat, squared-off hatchback is Ferrari’s answer to the growing number of exotic four-door coupes on the market today, such as the Porsche Panamera and Aston Martin Rapide.

Porsche 944
The Porsche 944 was a sports car built by Porsche from 1982 to 1991. It was built on the same platform as the 924, although 924 production continued through 1988. The 944 was intended to last into the 1990s, but major revisions planned for a 944 S3 model were eventually rolled into the 968 instead, which replaced the 944. The 944 was a successful model and was available as both a coupe and cabriolet in naturally aspirated and turbocharged forms.
Porsche made a new all-alloy 2.5 litre straight-4 engine, a four cylinder engine was chosen for fuel efficiency and size, because it had to be fitted from below on the Neckarsulm production line. To overcome the unbalanced secondary forces that make other four cylinder engines feel harsh, Porsche included two counter rotating balance shafts running at twice engine speed. balance shafts carry eccentric weights which produce inertial forces that balance out the unbalanced secondary forces, making a four cylinder engine feel as smooth as a six cylinder. The engine was factory-rated at 150 hp. in its U.S. configuration. Revised bodywork with wider wheel arches. Porsche introduced the 944 for 1982 to great anticipation. In addition to being slightly faster, the 944 was better equipped and more refined than the 924, it had better handling and stopping power and was more comfortable to drive. 0-60 mph time 8.3 seconds with a top speed of 130 mph The car had nearly even front to rear weight distribution (50.7% front/49.3% rear)
In 1986 Porsche introduced the 944 Turbo, that produced 220 hp at 6000 rpm. The turbo was the world's first car using a ceramic portliner to retain exhaust gas temperature.
The 1987 model year, the 944 was updated to incorporate Anti-lock braking and airbags for increased safety. In early 1989 before the release of the 944S2, Porsche upgraded the 944 from the 2.5 liter engine to a 2.7 liter engine rated 162 hp the new engine featured a siamesed-cylinder block design and a different cylinder head which incorporated larger valves. The 944S featured a normally aspirated, dual overhead cam 16 valves 189 hp version of the 2.5 litre engine. This marked the first use of four valves per cylinder in the 944 series. Performance was quoted as 0 – 60 mph in 7.6 seconds 140 mph top speed. (non-TURBO)
In 1988, Porsche introduced the Turbo S option package. The 944 Turbo S had a more powerful engine with 247 hp 260 lb·ft torque the standard 944 Turbo 217 hp and 243 lb·ft. In June 1988, Car and Driver tested the 944 Turbo S a 0-60 mph time of 5.5 seconds and a quarter mile time of 13.9 seconds at 101 mph Top speed was factory rated at 162 mph. In 1989 the 'S' designation was dropped from the 944 Turbo S, and all 944 Turbos featured the 'S' package as standard.
1989 944S2 was introduced, and powered by a 208 hp 3.0 L engine, the largest production 4 cylinder engine of its time. The 944S2 had the same rounded nose and a rear valance found on the Turbo model. This was the first example of the use of an integrated front bumper, where the fender & hood profiles would merge smoothly with the bumper...a design feature that has only now seen widespread adoption on nearly all cars. The S2 was also available as a cabriolet, a first for the 944 line. Performance was quoted as 0-60 mph in 6.6 seconds with a top speed 150 mph.
1990, Porsche engineers began working on what they had intended to be the third evolution of the 944, the S3. As they progressed with the development process, they realized that so many parts were being changed that they had produced an almost entirely new vehicle. Porsche consequently shifted development from the 944 S3 to the car that would replace the 944 entirely, the 968. The 944's final year of production was 1991; in 1992 the 968 debuted. The 968 was sold alongside the 928 through 1995, when both models were discontinued.
1991 Porsche released the 944 Turbo Cabriolet, which combined the Turbo's 250 hp engine with the cabriolet body. 625 were built 100 were right hand drive. None were imported to the U.S.
Collectibillity :The number of surviving 944s is falling due to the high maintenance costs. The post-1985 cars, Turbos, and S variants are considered more desirable than the earlier cars; having improved interiors, suspensions, and engines. The pre-1985 cars are valued due to their lighter curb weight and "no-nonsense" interior layout.
The Porsche 944 has proven to be successful and increasingly popular in amateur road course racing. The 944-Spec class caters to the 1983 to 1988 8-valve 944, and the 944 Cup series has classes for all 924/944/968 and 944 Turbo models. Competitive racing events are held by the National Auto Sport Association (NASA) and other organizations, as well as compatible rules that allow the same cars to race with theSports Car Club of America (SCCA) and Porsche Owner's Club. In total 163,192 cars in the 944 family were produced between 1982 and 1991. A total of 25,245 944 Turbos were made, with 13,982 being exported to the United States.

The Porsche Carrera GT
The Porsche Carrera GT is a mid-engined sports car. The development of the Carrera GT can be traced back to its predecessors, the 911 GT1 and LMP1-98 racing cars. Due in part to the FIA and ACO rule changes in 1998, both designs had ended. Porsche at the time had planned on a new Le Mans prototype for 1999. The car was initially intended to use a turbocharged flat-6, but was later redesigned to use a new V10 engine. The 5.5 L V10 from the prototype in a concept car shown at the 2000 Geneva Motor Show, in an attempt to draw attention to their display. Surprising interest in the vehicle and an influx of revenue provided from the Cayenne helped Porsche decide to produce the car, and development started on a road-legal version that would be produced in small numbers at Porsche's new manufacturing facility. Porsche started a production run of Carrera GTs in 2004, shipping the units with an MSRP of $440,000 The first Carrera GT went on sale in the US on January 31, 2004.
Originally a production run of 1,500 cars was planned. But Porsche announced in August, 2005 that it would not continue production of the Carrera GT through 2006, citing discontinuation was due to changing airbag regulations in the US. The Carrera GT is powered by a 5.7 V10 producing 612 hp 435 lb-ft of Torque. 0 to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds 0 to 100 mph 7.3 Top Speed 205 mph and runs the 1/4 mile in 11.1 seconds @ 133.4 mph.

KIA Motor Corp's goal
Kia Motors Corp., South Korea's second-largest automaker, has set its sights on becoming Europe's 10th-largest mainstream brand by 2013. To get there, the company will have to pass its parent, Hyundai, as well as Volkswagen's Skoda brand and Renault's Dacia. That means driving sales to about 450,000 units from 262,627 last year, an approximate 71 percent rise in volume over the next two years. Hyundai sold 358,284 units in Europe in 2010, up 4.7 percent, according to the European automakers' association, ACEA.Kia ranked 16th in overall European sales last year with a market share of 1.9 percent, and 13th among mainstream brands, a category that excludes BMW brand, Daimler's Mercedes and VW AG's Audi units.

Top 5 cities SPEED TRAPS
speed limits, while originally designed to conserve fuel during the energy crisis of the 1970s, have grown into a cash cow for states and municipalities—and they don't want you to know how much they're making off of speeding tickets. "Speed limits are supposed to be based on factual studies of traffic and what the majority of motorists deem as a safe speed," said Chad Dornsife, director of the Highway Safety Group . "Now, the posted limit has become a revenue generator—not a safety device." The National Motorists Association, a drivers' rights group, estimates that speeding tickets are a $4.5 to $6 billion industry in America. To be clear, speeding tickets aren't just for lead foots: In some places, they'll ticket you for going one mile over the speed limit.

Next Viper
Chrysler Group LLC says the new Dodge Viper sports car is going to be “drop-dead beautiful” and is meant to draw buyers from Porsche and Corvette buyers. The new Viper's look was inspired by “a naked woman on the beach,” said Ralph Gilles, the head of Chrysler's design. The car will be released next year as a 2013 model-year vehicle, Gilles told reporters at the Automotive News World Congress Thursday in Detroit.“It's an icon, and as a performance brand, it's important for me to have a performance vehicle,” Gilles, who also is head of the Dodge brand, told reporters after the event. Chrysler, managed by Italy's Fiat SpA, wants to draw buyers from competing vehicles such as Porsches and the Chevrolet Corvette, Gilles said. The new Viper will be profitable, and its sales volume isn't important, he said. Chrysler sold under 500 Vipers last year.
