RIP Monty Berney
Monty Berney passed away Friday after battling cancer for the past several months. He is survived by his wife Karen, son Shane, and daughter Brenna. You can’t think of Pro Mod and PSCA Pro Street Racing without thinking of Monty Berney. He pioneered the sport through his legendary trio of 1955 Chevys. From the drag strips of California, Memphis, Orlando and Las Vegas; Monty not only won on the racetrack but won the hearts of all the fans and racers around the world. Monty was a huge inspiration in the creation of Pacific Street Car Association’s Street Car Super Nationals held in Las Vegas.
I just found out that Monty passed away last year. Monty and I were best friends back in Vanderhoof B C in our teenage years. We lost touched with each other for over 40 yrs. but reconnect with a phone call 4 yrs ago and I am so sad to here of his passing.
