NASCAR news


NASCAR’s minor league series is now called the NASCAR XFINITY Series starting this 2015 racing season. The series started as the Budweiser Late Model Sportsman Series in 1982. From 1984 – 2003 the NASCAR Busch Grand National Series. 2004 –  2007  the NASCAR Busch Series. 2008 – 2014 the NASCAR Nationwide series. Most races are held on Saturday the day before the NASCAR sprint cup race at the same track trying to get fans to attend both races. Last year’s Champion and Rookie of the year 19 year old Chase Elliott will be a full time NASCAR Sprint Cup driver filling the seat of Jeff Gordon at Rick Hendrick Motorsports after Jeff Gordon retires after this season.

NASCAR news


Kevin Harvick won last weeks NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Phoenix International Raceway. This was Harvick's 4th win of the season. 6th win at PIR. This win helped him clinch a spot in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship Race today in Homestead, Florida. Jeff Gordon finished 2nd, followed by Matt Kenseth, Brad Keselowski rounding out the top 5 was Denny Hamlin.

A big part of the race on the final lap is when Ryan Newman bashed into Kyle Larson to take the 11th spot which put Newman in the Race for the Championship by beating Jeff Gordon by 1 point. 
The four drivers racing for The NASCAR Championship today are Kevin Harvick, Denny Hamlin, Joey Lagano and Ryan Newman

This will be the final race of the season and the first year of the NEW style of the  NASCAR Playoff system called "THE CHASE for the CUP"
